Composition of the Authority

Members of the UIDAI include:

  • The authority is made up of a Chief Executive Officer who also serves as the Member-Secretary and two part-time Members.
  • The founder, chairman, and managing director of Persistent Systems, Anand Deshpande, has been named to the UIDAI as a part-time member.
  • The Authority’s CEO, Shri Saurabh Garg, serves as both the Authority’s legal and administrative representative.
  • The IT and Accounts sections are included in the 127 officers and employees who make up the headquarters’ (HQ) total sanctioned strength.
  • Here, the CEO is helped by 7 Deputy Directors General (DDGs), Joint Secretary Level Officers of Government of India, as in-charge of various wings of UIDAI.
  • Assistant Directors General (ADGs), Deputy Directors, Section Officers, and Assistant Section Officers provide support for the DDGs. 

A Deputy Director General oversees each UIDAI Regional Office (RO) (DDG). Deputy Directors, Assistant Directors General, Assistant Section Officers, Section Officers, Senior Accounts Officers, Accountants, and personal personnel make up the support structure.
