How Does Fashion Influence the Fashion Influence?

This is the era of fashion and fashion has a great influence on our lives. In fact, it adds variety to our lives by offering an element of enthusiasm to try to achieve new and different things, which would otherwise be a monotonous life if we dress and act the same.

Fashion is the expression of a specific style, especially in clothing, footwear, accessories or makeup. Relating to a style of doing something, looking different and interacting with others. It encompasses a wide range of categories such as behaviour, speech, actions, customs and lifestyle. There are many intellectual discussions about fashion and clothing and their importance in today’s society. Fashion and clothing can be defined as many things that hold our society together. Fashion can be defined as a current custom or way of dressing, behaving and socializing, while clothing is collectively defined as clothing. If fashion and clothing are removed from our lives there will be no room for individuality and the population of the world will be the same. The differences between social classes that were roughly defined in the 18th century but still exist today will also be lost. The abolition of fashion and clothing would also change the dynamics of the social world and social relations.

Mod, short for modern, refers to the youth lifestyle that originated in London in the 1960s and quickly spread to other parts of the world. It is not only desirable to be fashionable but also satisfying. It is very common that young students are more attracted to fashion and start following trends immediately, so fashion has a strong influence on our youth. Fashion always has an impact on society. It affects our views and attitudes towards social culture. We introduce new lifestyles through fashion and create awareness within to restore new habits. It is a cutting edge social statement for students to make an appearance in their social circle. Malcolm Barnard says in his book Fashion as Communication, “Fashion and clothing have always been interpreted as forms of communication” (39). Students use fashion to express their feelings and opinions. They use fashion as a means of social contact which refers to scrutiny for all kinds of people. Fashion is a way of communication to let the world know what their personality really says.

The decade of the 1920s is known as the era of fiery youth because of its wild and jazzy expression. During this period the energy of youth was unleashed in a new way, and no style seemed too ridiculous to be high fashion. Our world is globalized. Celebrities play a big role in the lives of young people. The students look at their favorite icons to keep themselves updated. While watching TV or using the Internet, they can easily be enticed by various fashionable ideas. In addition, students idolize their favorite celebrities and always want to look like them, so they strive to imitate the appearance and lifestyle of their idols. They try to understand every current fashion from their society to enhance their personality. Every time they communicate, they talk about new things that can be adapted. They use unnatural articulation, speech and behavior in their relatively artificial everyday life.

In my opinion there are two categories ie. positive and negative impact on students.

Fashion in our society has many negative effects on students. They only think about new fashion and spend a lot of money. Therefore, they cannot be aware of other important needs of life. It always distracts them from learning. When a style or fashion hits a trend, students immediately follow it, no matter how hard it is. On the other hand, due to the influence of society, they get into the confusion of fashion. To follow a certain path, certain actions must be taken and to do that some students go beyond their limits to convince their environment. Eventually they become desperate instead of crafty and suffer from depression from being in fashion. On the other hand, it is thought that the money spent on fashion can be spent on charity and helping the poor among many other purposes.
