Before you begin the packing process, it is important that you are first aware of the type of weather you are packing for. This is important because there will be a difference in the way you pack for hot and cold weather.
Keep warm
When you are packing for cold weather, the main factor to consider is how to keep warm. Therefore, packing sweaters, long sleeve shirts, pants, socks, boots, snow hats, gloves etc. are essential items to take with you. You should also make sure you pack the right pyjamas which have the right type of material for the cold weather.
Save space
When you are packing, especially when you are packing for the colder climate, keep in mind that the clothes you pack may take up a lot of space. This is because warm clothes like sweaters are usually bulky and therefore take up a lot of space. Therefore, in order for you to be able to fit everything in your suitcase, it is best that you do not pack any unnecessary items.
For instance, it is of no use to pack flip flops because you will likely not be able to wear flip flops and be comfortable while in the cold weather. Even if you were to wear flip flops you would most likely have to first wear a pair of socks and then the flip flops. Therefore, it will be if more use for you to instead pack in more pairs of socks, closed shoes and boots rather than filling up space with flip flops.
You can even consider using packing cubes. This will not only help you save space but it will also enable you to organize your items better. Another way to save space is to calculate how many days you are travelling for and then decide accordingly on how many clothes you will need. However, it is also a good idea to pack an extra pair of socks or an extra sweater in case you lose one pair or get the item dirty.
Therefore, it is a good idea to make sure that you have space for an extra pair of certain items as it could come in handy. If you cannot fit all the essential items into one suitcase then instead of cutting back and taking the risk of leaving certain items behind, it is a good idea to either get a second suitcase or purchase a bigger one.
Where to go?
If you are from a tropical country and if you are not sure where to get winter clothes from, searching online will be a good place to start. By typing in the words winter clothes and entering the name of your location, you will be shown the availability of any shops selling winter clothes that are close to where you live.
If you are not sure of what exactly you will need to survive in the cold climate you can either ask the sales staff to help you or you could even consider taking a friend with you, one who has experience being in the cold weather.
